Masinagudi is small village located 60 kms away from the famous hill town Ooty. Masinagudi is known for it jungle area and near by tiger reserve. Masinagudi is located close to the bandipur wildlife sanctuary and mudumalai wildlife sanctuary. It is haven for wild animals like elephants, tigers, deers, bears, leapards and variety of birds. Masinagudi lies inside the tiger reserve and it is a protected area.
Masinagudi is nature’s paradise and popular getaway for wildlife lovers. Apart from wildlife there are few places to see near Masinagudi. Places like moyar river, murugan temple, elephant camp, mudumalai and bandipur sanctuaries, kalhatty water falls and also the wayanad sanctuary are must see for people coming to Masinagudi.
Masinagudi also offers activities like trekking, fishing, climbing, jeep safari and elephant safari for the visitors. Sighting wildlife is the most popular activity for the visitors coming here. Private jeep safaris inside the jungle is available for the small fee and elephant safari is provided in the near by mudumalai.

Take a Tour of the ten foot trained Tuskers at Theppakadu Elephant Camp
Under existence since 1971, this camp allows you to hangout with elephants (trained of course).
This camp lodges about 23 elephants.
Everyday a couple of elephants help out in pooja works of the temple within the camp.
The elephants will also let you ride them at early mornings if you are ready to part with a certain amount of cash as fee.
You can also have fun feeding them during their brunch time (feeding time).
Go on a jaunty Jungle ride through Jungle Safari:
Take a ride through the jungle and experience the adrenaline through the slither among the bushes, silhouettes of a would-be-predator and sudden sighting of an exotic animal. Chase and if unlucky, be chased by your game.
Safaris are available in the form of jeeps, vans and elephants in Masinagudi.
A jeep could take 6 at a time and a van could hold 25.
But the one Atop a Pachyderm (Elephant, 4 at a time) is the best as it can take routes within a jungle that cannot be accessed through a vehicle.
Usually a Safari ride lasts 45 minutes.

Have a spell at the Mudumalai National Park (Masinagudi)
THIS Park is one of the first of its kind to be established in South India.
The park which was started at an area of 60 sq.kms now has a total area of over 300 sq. kms under its reign
Some of our ancestors such as gray langur and bonnet macaque reside within this park.
Other than that tigers, leopards, bears, elephants, Golden jackals, dholes and striped hyenas are also found here.
Birds such as crested serpent eagle, the Malabar Trojan, crested hawk eagle and a striped tit babbler also reside here and roam the skies.

Rekindle your religiosity at Himavad Gopalaswamy betta:
Under cover of mist along with a cool and comfortable breeze surrounded by lush blanket of green at the Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta temple located over a height of 1454 meters from sea level.
The entry fee is charged according to the vehicle you ride. If luck smiles on you, you may come across some animals- elephants or bison or deer.
The spot is at 15 Kms from Bandhipur.
Bandipur National park:
Created at an area of 90 sq.km the within the Bandipur reserve forest, Venugopala wildlife park established in 1941 was renamed as Bandipur national park in 1973. Spawning over 800 kms this park is rich in plant as well as animal life.
For those of you biologists looking for research, this natural laboratory is loaded with more than enough specimen.

The plant life within this region is dense and diverse. Bamboos (Bambusa Arundinacea) Natural teak (Tectona Grandis), Anogeissus latifolia,Terminalia, Crenulata /Terminalia Tomontosa, Grewia, and blooming trees like Indian Labumusum, Aredesia, Solanancea are some of the flora.

The Animal life of this area include primates such as Macaque and Common Langur.
