Munnarwas the summer capital of the British in southern India. Munnar was developed to cultivate tea plants by British although it was first discovered by Scottish planters. DAY: 03 MUNNAR TO THEKKADY

Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady

The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. The Periyar forests of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks.

KTDC is operating 1.30 – 2 hours common fixed boating at Periyar Lake, Thekkady which is one of the major attraction there.   At the time of boating, if you are lucky,  you can have a unique experience of viewing wildlife at close from the safety of a boat at the lake.  The probable animals to see are Bison, Gaur, Wild Elephants, Sambhar and a wide variety of birds.
